test
shoot

This shoot was my first test shoot that I assisted with Fabulous magazine Fashion Assistant, Emily Regan.

networking + collaboration, Fashion test shoots often involve collaboration with other professionals such as photographers, models, makeup artists, hairstylists, and designers. You'll learn how to work as part of a team, communicate ideas, and contribute to the creative process.

model direction, directing models during the shoot helped me understand how to communicate effectively, give instructions for poses, expressions, and movements, and bring out the desired aesthetic for the shoot.

styling skills: Styling the shoot, you can learn about fashion trends, how to coordinate outfits, accessorize looks, and create visually appealing ensembles that align with the shoot's theme or concept.

challenge the stylist.

I observed a stylist's challenging shoot and got a behind-the-scenes look at Tracey Lee Sayer's work for F&F magazine. What stood out was the use of models from Zebedee, an agency promoting inclusivity. It's commendable that Fabulous Magazine is addressing this gap.

a conversation I had with model, Susan E, a diverse model with cerebral palsy,

" by the way, thank you for choosing me as a model, people will love media kit but when I come in for a in person casting I get turned away simply because of the crutches and the way I walk. " Susan E, 2023

this shoot was the first shoot that i assisted for Fabulous Magazine, where I was able to earn credits for this shoot and my name is was printed in the magazine. This was a big shoot for Fabulous magazine and alongside that a documentry was filmed on NANA, a non-binary model and them navigating the modelling industry.

assistant

this shoot was my favourite shoot that i have done for fabulous magazine, since i had the opportunity to work for Nana Acheampong as her stylist assistant on my own. Nana was someone I had looked up to in the industry and to be able to assist her on one of her final shoots for the magazine after being there for 10 years  was a highly appreciated opportunity.

creative direction, during this specific shoot, Nana gave me the opportunity to accessorise the model often without her instance. she trusted my skillset and stated that my choice worked well alongside her styling.

responsibilities, for this shoot i also did the shoot credits for the outfits. within a fashion magazine, it is important to credit garments and their prices within the magazine, and with this i had to be attentive and make sure I had listed what the model was wearing.
